THROW BACK THURSDAY #TBT to when we got a chance to have a creative huddle with our great friend, mentor, publisher and all-round creative force of nature - Winsome Duncan.
We discussed how Winsome gains and sustains her creative inspiration, drive and determination to uplift not just her own creative talent but those of the many writers within her growing Peaches Publications network.
We talk about the UK campaign The Look Like Me Book Challenge Winsome founded in 2019 to increase representation for black, brown and minority authors especially children and young people. Aiming to change the narrative to help children and young people see themselves and read stories written for and by themselves.
During the lockdowns in 2020 in the UK Winsome led a team of young authors, supported by their parents and a team of volunteers to co-design, write, illustrate and publish The Popcorn House.

The Popcorn House has since flourished into an in-progress animation that is in the process of being picked up by the right TV/streaming partner.
