LET ME EXPLAIN
When I first stumbled across coaching back around 2005 it was initially very new to me but as I was no stranger to much miscommunication in my work, home and wider life I knew I needed to give a go to improve myself and how well I could lead, and get the best out of my relationships.
So, being introduced to the structures, frameworks, and tools within coaching appealed to my neurodiverse brain and enabled me to make more sense of how to get the most out of communications whilst staying present and able to act effectively, especially following through.
What I hadn't counted on was how much learning the coaching steps, ethos, and ethics would have on all aspects of my life and career after gaining my certification in 2009 via Deb Barnard @ Relational Dynamic 1st @RD1st
SO IT IS MEGA PLEASING to be celebrated by Sifted for the impacts coaching has for the success of the Founders we serve through DOHE #ESCACoachingPrize and #GoTogether
Coaching unpins the huge variety of internal and external successes for Founders - key among them from my experiences;
1. Growth mindset from a genuinely aligned space of choice vs' driveness to have to succeed, no matter what. Leaning into the uncertainty of life isn’t as easy as ‘just’ being resilient - we need to learn new tips, tricks and strategies, especially ones that with, not against, our neurodiversity
2. Greater connection to values, mission and motivation to create a more authentic drive to create wins vs' putting on a brave face in the face of deep challenges, often crisis, whilst losing confidence in themselves. Business as usual is just a phrase as each day shifts and changes to the ‘plan’ come from the external environments, whilst how we respond consciously or otherwise can have profound and lasting effects.
3. Deeper relationships built within teams, current partners and stakeholders within the pipeline vs' grabbing for the fast sale, win over real connections and consideration of contexts. The media drives so much noise at times of change that it can be hard to ‘hear’ yourself think, let alone make choices that take into account our own and other’s emotional needs. Caring for our own and our team’s emotional - psychological safety is so key as the atmosphere we lead with cocreates the outcomes we want, whether we are aware of it, or not.
4. A deeper sense of pride in the journey taken so far vs' being always about the next goal, win, on and on, with no time for self reflection, course corrections and celebrations. Learning to deeply appreciate and value our Founder journeys makes taking the highs and lows easier as we are locking in each good enough experience, step up to recognise the parts we play as Founders which helps us seek less external validation. The more we know who we are as Founders, the greater power we have to drive collective change. The energy we emit is tangible and a force for change >>>
5. A great sense of personal authority to shape the direction of their business, needs and goals vs' taking any offer for business, partnership or investment in the short term vs' more longer term thinking. Not being able to see the wood for the trees is actually very common, a primitive mind state of either short term or prolonged stress. No human can live a life without stress so to a lesser or greater degree each Founder will need to understand how much they are run or not by the levels in their ‘stress bucket’. When we have the tools to be more at ease, release stress and tensions then are ability to ‘see’ more into tomorrow, next week and beyond is greatly enhanced.
